EXTENSION TO THE PRIVATE RESIDENTIAL CARE HOME WITH DEMENTIA CARE

Trepassey Residential Care Home, formerly a large 19th century private house, is in an attractive location overlooking the Dee Estuary and Welsh Hills. The home, open since 1957 provides care for residents with a current age range from 65 to 103+. With an aging population, there are inevitably a number of residents who have some level of dementia.

Phase I began in 2016 and was the largest expansion in the home’s history with the addition of new en-suite bedrooms. The steeply sloping nature of the site was the single most important factor which enabled the extension. The additional accommodation and specialist dementia care wings were tucked into the slope of the site below the main house. This enabled the creation of a series of garden terraces allowing for level access from the home to gardens and maintaining great views from the bedrooms.

The home remained operational during the entire two-phase construction period therefore the project required complex logistical phasing planning, to allow the home to operate through the 3-year build with minimal disruption to residents, staff and visitors. Phase I was completed in 2018.
