MANOR PARK CHILDREN’S CENTRE

NEW BUILD CHILDREN’S CENTRE

Following our work on the first phase of Children’s Centres, we were appointed by Cheshire County Council to develop a strategy for the Phase 2 delivery, comprising nineteen centres across the County. This involved feasibility studies and site appraisals on twenty-eight locations, principally primary schools; completed within a period of three months. We shared the implementation of the programme with other design teams, undertaking design and delivery of eight projects between Autumn 2006 and Summer 2008.

Manor Park was one of the first new build Children’s Centres, designed as a stand-alone building but within the grounds of the Primary School. The Children’s Centre provides accommodation for parents, children and the wider community with a combination of large and small meeting spaces, crèche facilities for use in conjunction with parenting groups, counselling facilities and a clinical consultation room shared with NHS staff.

The centre works in partnership with the school and the new facilities, available to the school, radically increase the scope of the accommodation, and flexibility for school activities.
