Mablins Lane, Crewe

Primary School

This two-form entry primary school was designed for Cheshire County Council to serve new housing on the outskirts of Crewe. In response to the brief, the building offers open, flexible relationships between linked practical areas and class-bases, each of which provides a general teaching space and quiet area.

High level glazing introduces natural light and ventilation to the heart of the building, providing an inviting and stimulating environment for both pupils and staff. The light, airy quality is further enhanced by the multi-function conservatory which opens off the main entrance and display area. All areas are available to children and staff with disabilities and the building was designed to minimise energy and maintenance costs.
