Lincoln House

Community Support Centre

In the summer of 2007 we were approached by Cheshire County Council to undertake options appraisals on the ten Community Support Centres located across Cheshire to assess the potential of each centre to accommodate a dedicated dementia care unit for up to twelve residents.

The plan form and siting of the centres differed widely and individual feasibilities studies were completed using a combination of extensions and remodelling to provide discreet and secure dementia care facilities. As far as practicable, these facilities were integrated into the care infrastructure of the centres, which would continue to provide residential accommodation for respite and rehabilitation. The feasibility studies were submitted with early cost estimates to assist the County Council in a strategic review of care procedures.

Earlier this year some further construction work was undertaken on Lincoln House, Crewe, developing three options for further consideration. One of the key objectives of the studies was to combine full accessibility with complete security for residents, not only for internal spaces but also for spontaneously accessible discreet garden areas.
